The history of marijuana and other drugs in America

This is part one of a five part series of videos from the History Channel on how marijuana was made illegal in the US.  It provides a fascinating glimpse into the fickle nature of our relationship with drugs, both licit and illicit.

Yo, Dawg! Yo mama’s gonna give you a drug test!

What should you do when your pet gets high on marijuana?  Well, there aren’t any home drug testing kits for pets specifically but I would imagine that a urine or saliva sample from this dog would yield some interesting results on a drug screening.  You figure out how you’re going to get the sample.

Your kids may be talking about drugs and you won’t even have a clue.  The drug culture uses many slang or street names to describe the drugs and paraphernalia associated with drug abuse.

Our supplier has put together a database of drug slang to help you recognize the warning signs.

To search for a drug type by slang term or street names, CLICK HERE.

Many parents have to face the reality that their child will or has used drugs so it is important to know how to recognize drug terms or lingo.

We have comprised an extensive list of over thousands of slang terms for the many drug types available today and the list is continuously growing.

We will be updating this slang term database regularly as new slang terms and lingo are been created everyday.

  • Drug lingo (e.g. pot)

  • Drug slang terms (e.g. 420)

  • Drug Paraphernalia (e.g. pipe)

  • Street names for drugs (e.g. weed)

Note: We have included misspellings in our database.

You should be aware that some terms which you once considered innocent (e.g. jelly – which refers to cocaine)

Simply enter a term (e.g. speed) into the search box and the results with show the drug type(s) associated with that slang term.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT 420 MEANS?

Have you ever heard your teenager reference the time “4:20?” Many parents don’t realize that 420 (pronounced “four-twenty”) is a “secret code” for a time to get high. The reference to 420 presumably dates back to ’70s stoner lingo but is still widely recognized by the youth of today. Some people have even designated April 20th as “National Pot Smokers Day.”

If you hear your teenager reference 420, see that he/she is using the term while instant messaging with friends or has a 420 sticker on his car or backpack, call him on it. Let him know you know what he’s talking about.

Which 5 panel drug test for at home drug tests is the best value for your money?

Let’s take a look at two types of  home drug testing kits available from Test Country with 5 panels or more.  A panel is simple a single test for a specific drug test.  For example, a one panel drug test might only test for cocaine.  A two panel home drug testing kit might test for cocaine and ecstasy.

You can click on any of the links at any time to purchase.

Hair Confirm

This is actually a 7 panel drug test that can screen for marijuana, methamphetamine, amphetamine,  ecstasy, cocaine, opiates such as heroin and phencyclidine.  Hair sample drug tests are the gold standard of drug testing because they can reveal drug use over time.  Other methods can only track more recent drug use.  However, hair drug test samples must be sent to an outside lab, unlike other types of at home drug testing that can give you instant results in the privacy of your own home.

The price is around $60-80, depending on the number of repeat tests you would like to have.

Unlike hair sample drug tests, urinalysis drug testing or saliva drug tests are available in a 5 panel drug test format at a much cheaper price.  These at home drug tests start at $6.  But apart from the price and the fact that these are instant drug tests, both saliva drug tests and urinalysis drug testing have one major drawback – they require the cooperation of the test subject.  This is fine if you are testing yourself, or if you are an employer with a mandatory drug testing policy.  But if you are a parent who is worried their child is taking drugs, this may be a problem.

To get more information on any of the at home drug testing kits available in the 5 panel drug test format, please click on the image below.

ScienceDaily (2009-11-17) — Marijuana is the most widely used illicit drug by adolescents, with almost 42 percent of high school seniors admitting to having experimented with it. Many studies have focused on parents as being the best avenue for preventing adolescent marijuana use; however, the strength of the relationship between monitoring and marijuana usage has been unclear. According to a meta-analysis, there is in a fact a strong, reliable link between parental monitoring and decreased marijuana usage in adolescents.
