In previous posts, we talked about various types of home drug tests. Many require urine, saliva or hair samples. For obvious reasons, obtaining a sample may be difficult.
That’s where home drug tests using a simple spray test come in. Just like on the show CSI, these home drug test kits let you detect trace amounts of various drugs just by swabbing and spritzing. The results are immediate and accurate. And best of all, the subject doesn’t need to know about the test at all.
There are a couple of things you need to be aware of though.
1. If the home testing kit tests positive, this only tells you that trace amounts of drug were found. It doesn’t tell you who was using the drug.
2. The possibility for cross-contamination is much higher. Other people who are using drugs can contaminate the area you are testing. So, if the test is positive, you don’t know if your spouse or teen is the culprit. It could be their friends. (That’s another issue!)
3. The number of drugs you can test for is limited. There are home drug tests for cocaine, marijuana, heroin and methamphetamine and their derivatives. There are no instant drug tests for benzodiazepines, PCP and other drugs.

Drug Testing For Cocaine Just Became A Lot Easier Most home testing kits for illegal drugs such as cocaine and crack have one serious drawback. You need the cooperation of the test subject. Whether it’s testing by urine, saliva or hair analysis, you will need to obtain the sample directly from the person you are testing. As you might imagine, many people who are using drugs do not want to admit to parents, spouses or figures in authority that they are using. Luckily, there is a type of home testing kit on the market today that solves that problem. Now, you simply use a spray test just like on CSI to test for trace amounts of cocaine. The least expensive version costs about $40. Drug testing cocaine residue is very easy. Just spray and wipe. The test results are immediate and highly accurate. By now you know that Home Testing Kits always tries to give you a balanced reporting on any of the home drug tests on the market. This spray test is no exception. There is a caveat. Because you are not taking a sample directly from the subject, you cannot be absolutely sure that any traces of cocaine found in the drug testing are attributable to the subject. Contamination from other sources is always a possibility. Friends and other family members might also be using cocaine and have access to the areas you are testing. I can give you an example from my life when a chemical test jumped to the wrong conclusion. Working in the pharmaceutical industry, I have been in contact with many types of medications. Once, while going through security before boarding a flight, my laptop was given a routine swab test for chemical residues. Suddenly, I noticed a very large policeman standing beside me with his hand resting firmly on the butt of his service revolver. The test had shown positive for nitrates, a common ingredient in the manufacture of explosives. I can reassure you that I am no terrorist. But I did sometimes handle samples of a heart medication know as ISDN which contains nitrates. The drug is more commonly known as “nitroglycerin” and is used for relieving angina pains. After explaining what I do for a living, they let me board the plane. But, it goes to show that a simple trace test is not going to give you definitive proof of drug use. That being said, if the person you are testing has a history of cocaine abuse, the drug testing cocaine spray might be a cheap and easy way to confirm recent use. Just be aware of the limitations.
